This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

March 21

Today's Reading: Job 42:12-17

Not only does Job receive material blessings from God, but his health is restored and he lives another 140 years and has children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Once again, this is no guarantee that God will always restore our health. And I'm confident in saying that none of us are going to live 140 years, alone another 140 years after any health issues we might face. But I am reminded here of the words of Peter:

1 Peter 1:6–7 (ESV)
6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Our life here on earth is just a tiny blip compared to the eternity we'll spend in the presence of Jesus. So even if our life here on earth is shortened by some disease or calamity, we can rejoice that we have the rest of eternity to spend with our Savior.
