Reflection questions:
  1. What was it about the money changers and vendors in the temple that prompted Jesus to attack them? How does this contrast with the common view of Jesus as being weak and tolerating everything?
  2. When can we be legitimately confident that God will do what we ask him to do? This is one of those passages that can easily be misused. Ask God for his guidance in application of this challenging teaching of Jesus.
  3. What is probably even more important than asking for what we want in prayer, from what Jesus teaches here?
  4. How does Jesus' interaction with those who challenged his authority show his perfect wisdom and that he is always in control?
