This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

November 21

Today's Reading: Psalm 121:1-8

Read the passage and answer these two questions:
  1. What doe this passage teach me about God and His attributes?
  2. How should that understanding about the nature of God impact the way that I live my life?

My observations from Psalm 99:
This Psalm focuses on the idea that God is holy. As we've discussed before the word "holy" means to be "set apart". It means that God is not just like us, only better. He is completely distinct from all of His creation. I am reminded of this passage from Isaiah:

Isaiah 55:8–9 (ESV)
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

The implication for my life is that I need to trust that God knows what is best for me, even when I can't see that or understand it. I need to trust that doing things His way is always what is best for my life.
