This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

August 21

Today's Reading: Nehemiah 9:1-38

This is certainly quite different than a typical worship service today, isn't it? The people spent a quarter of a day just reading God's Word. Then they spent another quarter of a day making confession and worshiping God. And it seems they did all that without coffee or refreshments!

This is a great example of the importance of knowing God. This entire chapter is focused on the faithfulness, mercy and love of God. And when the people focused on that character of God, they mourned over their sin and rebellion and confessed their sin to God. More than likely if we find that we aren't spending much time in confession, it's not because we're so righteous that we have nothing to confess. It's much more likely that our view of God is not all that it should be.

What are you doing to constantly expose yourself to the greatness of God?
