This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

August 8

Today's Reading: John 2:1-25

We're going to focus today on verses 13-22. Here the disciples remember the words from Psalm 69, a Messianic Psalm. In the same way that the Jewish Temple had been torn down during the conquest by Babylon and later rebuilt (we'll read about that in the next section of our reading plan), Jesus' body would be put to death and then rise from the grave on the third day.

This disciples certainly had no idea what Jesus was talking about then, but after His resurrection, they remembered those words and finally understood them. There are some things in the Bible that might be like that for us - especially things that relate to the second coming of Jesus. We may not fully understand them now, but one day we will see clearly

1 Corinthians 13:12 (ESV)
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
