This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

May 16

Today's Reading: 1 Samuel 10:1-27

Once again, we how the Holy Spirit operated differently in Old Testament times than He does today. In verse 10, we read that the Spirit of God "rushed upon him". But, as we'll see later, when Saul fails to be the kind of king that God desires, God will remove His Spirit.

Today, whenever anyone puts his or her faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell permanently in the life of that person. So we don't ever have to worry that the Holy Spirit might leave us. However, we can ignore, grieve, or quench the Holy Spirit. Although He is present in our lives to guide and lead us, He won't ever force us to listen to Him or obey Him. Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to do His work in your life?
