As you can see, our Pastor is a long time Chicago Cubs fan.
But even if you’re not, we hope you’ll take a moment to listen to what he has to say anyway.

Worshiping with Lips and Lives

In Deuteronomy 11-13, Moses focuses on two main themes:

Remembering – and Being Grateful

As the people prepare to enter the Promised Land. Moses continues to remind them of all that God has done for them and exhorts the people not to forget God once He gives them that land. In Deuteronomy 8 Moses warns that when they get into the land and prosper, they are going to be tempted to think that they have accomplished everything on their own and forget that whatever wealth they may accumulate is only because God has enabled them to do that. And when they forget God, they are going to be tempted to go after other gods.

Being “Re-gospeled” Daily

In my sermon Sunday, I talked about the need to be “re-gospeled” daily (a term I stole from Matt Chandler). This morning, as I was reading Deuteronomy 5-7, that idea came to mind again. especially in chapter 7. There God is reminding His people that He did not choose Israel because of anything they had to offer to Him. God had chosen a weak, small people because by building them into a great nation who would bless all the other nations of the world, He would get all the glory, not the people.
